The Stand for Our Sound Awards are a celebration of the people who protect the places we all depend on. This annual event honors those who care for the air we breathe, the land we live on, and the waters that sustain us, reminding us that our environment is an interconnected whole.
What makes these awards special is that they are shaped by you. Every nomination helps lift up neighbors, youth, educators, leaders, and businesses whose vision and hard work inspire our community to build a healthier South Sound.
Nominations for the 2025 Stand for Our Sound Awards are closing soon. This is your chance to help shape this year’s celebration by recognizing the individuals, groups, and businesses making a difference for our environment and our communities.
The deadline to submit is Friday, September 26. You can nominate someone for one (or more) of this year’s seven award categories:
Environmental Justice Service Award: Recognizes those who champion environmental justice and ensure vulnerable and historically marginalized communities have a voice in decisions that impact their health and future.
Rising Tide Award: Honors young leaders whose passion and commitment demonstrate that the next generation is ready to take bold action for a cleaner, healthier South Sound.
Healthy South Sound Champion Award: Celebrates community members whose leadership and vision have significantly advanced the health and resilience of the South Sound’s waterways, landscapes, and communities.
Clean Water Hero in Elected Office Award: Acknowledges elected officials whose leadership and decisions protect clean water, uphold environmental equity, and safeguard the places we all depend on. (Please note, candidates actively running for office cannot be nominated.)
Kay Treakle Lifetime Achievement Award: Pays tribute to lifelong environmental advocates whose passion and dedication mirror that of Kay Treakle, a beloved force for people, nature, and justice.
Environmental Educator Award (NEW!): Honors teachers, mentors, and community educators who spark environmental learning and inspire people of all ages to care for the natural world.
Green Business Award (NEW!): Recognizes businesses that lead the way in sustainability by investing in innovative practices, transforming operations, or creating products that improve our shared future.
