Young actors will love this opportunity to explore the fundamentals of acting through fun games and exercises. Each one-week camp is perfect as a first introduction to the world of theatre, or an ideal supplement for any young actor who regularly performs. Each week stands alone. This fun class teaches the basics of story dramatization and improvisation. July 22 - July 26 -- Theatre Fun: BECOMING THE CHARACTER! This fun class will focus on character creation & acting choices including physical and vocal character work. *Performance Series** Cost: $175.00 per class OPEN ENROLLMENT - Suggested ages 8 – 15 One-Week Camps - 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm *Designed to immerse young actors in a total theatre experience! Each one-week production offers actors the unforgettable chance to rehearse, design, and publically perform the week’s production. July 15 - July 19 -- A TRIBUTE TO ANNE FRANK Performs July 20 @ 3pm Through selections from her diary and scenes from the award-winning play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, each young actress will take on the role of Anne Frank as we tell one of history’s tragedies through the eyes of a young girl. July 22 - July 26 -- FICTION IN THE FOOTLIGHTS Performs July 27 @ 3pm Join us for this beautiful compilation of scenes and monologues from classic junior fiction. Selections include: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Charlotte’s Web, The Hobbit, The Giver, Little Women and more! *Audition Series** **Cost: PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN*** *The audition series is designed to provide a complete theatrical experience – from rehearsal to fully produced public performances. These are productions, not classes. Actors will only be called to rehearsal as needed. Tuition is due, if cast, on the first day of rehearsal. *THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ* *Auditions: July 21st at 3pm** TWO WEEK REHEARSAL - 10:00 am - 1:00 pm July 29-August 9 performs August 9, 10, & 11 suggested ages: 7-16 Cost Requested: $200.00 *Join Dorothy, Toto and the rest for Tacoma Youth Theatre’s original (non-musical) adaptation of Frank L. Baum’s magical book. *ROBIN HOOD** Auditions: July 21st at 5pm THREE WEEK REHEARSAL - 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm July 29 - August 16 performs August 16, 17, & 18 suggested ages: 8 – 18 Cost Requested: $300.00 *This witty, original adaptation of the classic folk tale is both funny and heart-warming. Full of complex characters, intrigue and sword play, this a play that any serious young actor will enjoy! No preparation is necessary. The auditions will consist of games, exercises & reading from the script. Actors should plan on staying throughout the auditions. Parents may stay throughout, but should at least plan on attending the first 15 minute of auditions. Tuition is pay-what-you-can* and due, if cast, on the first day of rehearsals. Age-appropriate actors are strongly encouraged to audition for both productions to maximize their casting potential. Casting is at the discretion of the director and actors should expect to be cast in only one production. (Please audition only for productions in which you are excited to take part.)
