Working in partnership with King County and the Office of Economic Development,
the Office of Arts & Culture has awarded a commission for a neighborhood
identifier artwork to Diane Hansen and Jennifer Wedderman. Hansen and Weddermann
will work closely with the South Park community to develop a series of
identifiers and/or wayfinding artworks that celebrates South Park and its
business district along 14th Avenue S.

Diane Hansen is a sculptor and member of the Pilchuck Glass School since 1990.
She recently completed a public art installation, Lock-On Tacoma, for Sound
Transit in Tacoma. Diane creates work in which the viewer is also a participant,
and often pulls from the community in which the work is placed for
participation.
Jennifer Weddermann is a licensed architect with a strong emphasis in
functionality and sustainability. Along with being a LEED Accredited
Professional, she is also a metal artist, combining tradition al blacksmithing
techniques with modern laser cutting to fabricate furnishings, public and
private art, architectural elements and signage.
King County has contributed funds towards the enhancement of the South Park
commercial core solely for physical improvements in the commercial corridor
along 14th Avenue S., and will enhance the appearance of South Park’s main
retail business district.
