Workshop Description: In this workshop we will construct a decorative box with a lid and feet, using mat board and paper made by the instructor. Not only will you be making a specific box in this workshop, but you will also learn the skills needed to create boxes of any size to hold one of your artist books. This box might also make a nice holiday gift for someone special. Working from a kit, students will learn the basics of box construction, including utilizing a box jig and using simple tools. We will embellish our boxes, inside and out, with richly colored papers, hand made by the instructor. Using a fun color block theme, each inner wall will be a different color. The colorful lids will be pyramid shaped, have a slip-proof lip and be topped with a ribbon pull. We will finish our boxes with square feet that elevate it to a sophisticated presentation.
