The 253 Collective gallery is open more hours during the week. Thanks to
coop member Butch Renick, a glass artist who will be doing demonstrations
on select days. Recently retired, Butch decided to keep the shop open
during the week. A much-needed opportunity for the unique cooperative space
shared by local creatives. The group was founded by visionary Linda
Danforth in 2009 with a handful of artists, and has been home to many over
the years. The unique membership style, minimal monthly fees and limitless
opportunities for emerging artists carves a special niche for the group.
Centrally located the gallery is directly across the street from The Swiss
restaurant and in the office building at the top of the staircase on the
University of Washington Tacoma campus, just minutes from Tacoma Art
Museum, Museum of Glass and Washington State History Museum.
