Are you a
* Dance Teaching Artist • Theater Teaching Artist
* Media Arts Teaching Artist • Visual Arts Teaching Artist
If yes, Arts Impact is currently expanding our teaching artist roster with teaching artists to work with Pre-K through Elementary classroom teachers and their students in Tacoma and surrounding districts.

Arts Impact is a nonprofit with the mission of closing the opportunity gap for children of color, English as a second language children, and children experiencing poverty. We work with and train teaching artists to infuse dance, media arts, theater and visual arts with math, science, English language arts, social emotional learning, and social studies in low-income public schools. Arts Impact teaching artists are called Artist Mentors. Infusing the arts with other core subjects gives students furthest from educational justice high quality art learning opportunities and materials. This equitable approach also helps children make real world connections in each subject, making them partners in their learning. Arts Impact partners with preschools and elementary schools primarily in urban areas and middle schools in migrant communities.

Artist Mentor Responsibility and Description:
Artist Mentors are both practicing artists and teaching artists skilled in designing and facilitating arts learning. They develop, deliver, and assess arts and arts infused learning materials, participate in program development with teachers, families, community and cultural leaders, and Arts Impact staff. Artist Mentors are independent contractors which gives each artist the time to continue with their other teaching passions and other creative opportunities. Arts Impact believes in paying Artist Mentors a good living wage with paid professional development.
