Calling all writers who teach and teachers who write. Ours Poetica, a
writing workshop for educators is meeting on Sunday, November 24th
12:00pm-2:00pm at Blue Cactus Press (1901 Jefferson Ave.)

Rachel Wiley will lead us in the workshop Art as Argument & Poetry as
Protest. We will view art and poems that have protest themes and create our
own works in response to a social justice issue we are passionate about.
(And maybe even perform them for each other.)

Rachel Wiley is a teacher, writer, and advocate for teachers and students
in Washington State. She promotes youth engagement in literary arts by
coaching poetry slam teams for LTAB Tacoma, Poetry Out Loud competitions,
and creative writing workshops. She has also served as a Washington State
Teacher Leader, a Jane’s Fellowship Class 7 graduate, and a former director
of Teachers United https://www.facebook.com/TeachersUnitedWa/ (TU253) to
promote equity and disrupt and dismantle harmful policies and practices in
schools.
