Hello Neighbors, do you like nature? Like to write? Join the Gig Harbor Echology poetry walk! Details below- Call for poetry submissions for ECHOLOGY project in Gig Harbor's Donkey Creek and Austin Parks. Deadline Sept 15. Pierce County residents are invited to participate in the ECHOLOGY poetry project by submitting a short line of poetry inspired by the ecology of the Salish Sea or salmon. ECHOLOGY highlights the autumn return of salmon to local waters, honoring the process through poetry. Poems by regional poets will be installed along the Donkey Creek Trail, an invitation to explore the ancient spawning grounds. Plaques will be placed throughout Gig Harbor's Donkey Creek Park, Harbor History Museum, and Austin Park encouraging a contemplative nature walk this October. By bringing together a variety of voices the public has the opportunity to explore different perspectives on the Salish Sea and learn about the salmon life cycle. Artist Jennifer Chuscoff will edit submissions for length and clarity, combining them into one community poem.
