AUDITION-BASED, PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN PRODUCTIONS

Designed for an all-youth cast. Younger actors will play younger characters
while teenage actors often play adult characters. During audition-based
programs, we focus on Tacoma Youth Theatre’s core values and actively
collaborate to maintain a kind and nurturing learning environment. With
each new cast, we explore the basics of acting, staging, and work very
intentionally to learn and follow good theatre etiquette.

Tacoma Youth Theatre's after Audition-based productions are designed to
facilitate the best theatrical experience possible.  We primarily produce
original adaptations of public domain works, affording us the unique
ability to customize each play, after auditions, to optimize the experience
for each individual young artist. We have carefully selected plays that
introduce the very newest young actors to theatre and provide returning
actors with exciting new challenges.

No preparation is necessary. The auditions are free and consist of games,
exercises & reading from the script. Actors should plan on staying
throughout the auditions. Parents may stay throughout, but should at least
plan on attending the first 15 minute of auditions. Tuition is
pay-what-you-can* and due, if cast, on the first day of rehearsals.

Age-appropriate actors are strongly encouraged to audition for both
productions to maximize their casting potential. Casting is at the
discretion of the director and actors should expect to be cast in only one
production. (Please audition only for productions in which you are excited
to take part.)

*PAY WHAT YOU CAN tuition is not free. Tacoma Youth Theatre is funded
through tuition payments. Families are asked to pay the full tuition amount
or an alternate amount they can afford.
