You or someone you know would have fun doing this:
November 9, 2013 NWDC Presents: Lynn Di Nino Workshop: Birdhouses as Sculpture
10am to 4pm
Loosen up your creative skills by making the wackiest birdhouse ever from household objects. In this workshop you will learn to assemble miscellaneous materials together with wire and other techniques that will hold up for your outdoor sculpture. Along the way you'll learn some principles of sculpture: balance, asymmetry, function and composition. Your assemblages might incorporate hollow children's toys, plastic tableware, wood, flimsy metal things, shoes, lightweight sports equipment, baskets and/or items you've found at thrift stores, garage sales and your own kitchen.
Ages 17+. All skill levels welcome. Register online by October 29. $85 members/$95 nonmembers.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
As a mixed-media artist since 1974, Lynn Di Nino is self-supporting through private commissions, shows and galleries. She was an early and core member of Friends of the Rag, a Seattle group of wearable artists who presented over 70 live shows, including one at the Renwick Gallery in Washington, DC on an NEA grant. She is a risk-taker, self-taught, and actually supports herself through her art endeavors. Her success is the result of a lifetime art-making preoccupation and she simply cannot live without making things: sculpture, unusual clothing, events. For over 30 years now she has been constantly cooking up projects, animal themes in her artwork, innovative events.and wearable art! She currently lives and works in Tacoma and is in the early stages of designing a performance artwork for Tacoma's FIRSTNIGHT. - See more at: http://www.bellevuearts.org/calendar/#search-by=day&query=11/9/2013
