ANDELANA, a 4-masted barque, sunk in Tacoma’s Commencement Bay in 1899,
and remains at the bottom of the bay to this day. There were no
survivors except one apprentice seaman who had sought medical treatment
in town for an abscessed tooth.
But rumors swirled amidst this tragedy, talks of ghosts and a curse.
Why did the ship, which had sailed around the world, suddenly sink while
docked during a storm? No witnesses saw the vessel sink, but it was
said that some on board had feared the ship’s travels to other
continents brought a curse on the Andelana. Part local history, part
ghost story, ANDELANA explores this mystery and the some personal
stories of the ship’s crew.
Auditioners are asked to bring a 1-2 minute monologue, if you have one
prepared. If not, sides from the script will be sent to all auditioners
several days prior to be read at the audition.
