For the wild creative looking for community to make a mess with. Grab a friend and come create with us! What’s junk journaling? Junk journaling combines journaling, collage, doodling, and whatever other medium you’d like to adhere in a journal for a brilliant hodgepodge of free self-expression. In combination with my ugly art coaching, this becomes a place to feel deeply into your creative intuition and practice creating a mess in a safe space where your nervous system can start to learn that your art practice doesn’t need to be perfect all the time—or at all for that matter! Why “ugly” art? A lot of times we can get in our own way when it comes to creative expression. The desire for our art to be liked can lead to us feeling trapped in a style we aren’t excited about, unsure how to tap into inspiration, hyper critical of ourselves, or completely avoidant of art altogether. We can fall into thinking that “art” looks a certain way and that if we do not align with that vision, then we will be failures—not exactly a thriving environment for curiosity and creativity! Making ugly art on purpose can: 1. Relieve unrealistic expectations 2. Disrupt avoidance patterns 3. Increase authentic expression 4.
