This June, fresh off her powerful show at the Seattle Asian Art Museum, internationally acclaimed Tacoma artist Anida Yoeu Ali <https://seattleartmuseum.org/exhibitions/ali> will lead myself, musician and Tacoma Arts Commissioner Joe Williams <https://www.soundliberator.net/>, creative entrepreneur and gallerist Dion Thomas <https://www.neondionart.com/about>, Tacoma City Councilperson and filmmaker Jamika Scott <https://www.cityoftacoma.org/government/city_council/council_member_jamika_scott>, and writer/editor Jesi Vega <https://www.representeditorial.com/> to Indonesia, where we will spend 4 days in capital city Jakarta and 8 days in Yogyakarta (Jogja); Tacoma Arts Commissioner and filmmaker Derek Nunn <https://www.instagram.com/nunn_other/?hl=en> will serve as an advisor and advocate for the delegates. Together, we will explore one of the world’s most exciting art capitals and return to Tacoma with innovative new strategies for transforming our own creative ecosystem. We are reaching out to our networks to provide financial support to fund travel costs, and the ability to compensate the artists for their time, talent, and offering of important creative research and vision toward the development of Tacoma.
