"Spaceworks Tacoma represents a solid partnership opportunity for property owners and the arts community. Vacant spaces can create negative perceptions and do little to encourage leasing. In times like these, it is important for the City and property owners to work cooperatively and make Tacoma a better place to live, play, and do business."

5-day continuous performance, artist present day/night
Woolworth Window at 11th & Commerce
A simple stark white installation will be transformed with color by Priscilla Dobler during this 5-day continuous performance, all day and night, with her floor loom and colorful cotton threads. The woven pieces she creates during this performance will be given away to the homeless, available for sale to passersby, or left in the window for the remainder of the exhibition. Priscilla is especially excited to participate in the October Third Thursday Artwalk.

Mayor Marilyn Strickland
Special thanks
to the property owners who are currently providing space for our projects: Bristol Equities, A Street Associates LLC, Seven Seventeen Investors LLC, AT&T, Lee Noble, and UW Tacoma.

Spaceworks is a joint initiative of the City of Tacoma and the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber designed to activate empty storefronts and vacant space. The initiative makes no- and low-cost temporary space, training, and technical assistance available to artists, creative entrepreneurs, organizations, and community groups in order to nurture successful projects that transform Tacoma into a stronger, more active city.
