Lakewold Gardens is pleased to present Sounds of the Homeland for the 2024 Music from Homehttps://lakewoldgardens.org/musicfromhome/ season, its monthly series of intimate chamber music concerts held in the historic Wagner House.  This concert is the first of the season's American Focus subset and features music by Black composers active in the United States. Ellaina Lewis, soprano; Robert Murphy, violin; and Kim Davenport, piano will perform Sonnets on Love, Rosebuds, and Death by Dorothy Rudd Moore; Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's Four African Dances and Deep River from his 24 Negro Melodies; and a selection of Richard Thompson's art songs and piano preludes. University of Puget Sound esteemed faculty member and musicologist Gwynne Brown will offer an introductory talk about the music.
