Northwest Repertory Singers Sing About

Love, Lust & Laughter

On Sunday, May 19th at 3 p.m. the Northwest Repertory
Singers return to our home venue, Mason United Methodist Church, 2710 North
Madison Street, in the Proctor District for a concert of music based on words
starting with the letter “L.”

You know the ones I mean; Love, Lust and Laughter. Hold
tight to your honey as we move you across the floor to Five Waltzes by Brahms.
Up next is Dirait-on, a poem, of delicate beauty and sensuousness by Morten
Lauridsen, sung in French (the language of love, after all). A Red, Red, Rose,
a love poem by Robbie Burns’ and Arise My Love by Northwest Repertory Singers’
own Tom and Ellen Walworth round out the Love section of the concert.

Lust is well represented by Carl Orff in his Carmina Burana.
Sung in Latin so as not to cause the choir to blush throughout this popular
piece, the music alone is enough to leave you exhilarated and exhausted.

So now we need to cool down those flames of passion by
making you laugh. PDQ Bach, extremely estranged relative of that famous family
presents his always successful attempts at humor with Two Hearts, Four Lips,
Three Little Words and My Bonnie Lass She Smelleth. Then John Muehleisen speaks
to every kid’s (large or small) food preferences with Aversion To Carrots and
RAH! Trust me, you have to be here for that one. Mr. Muehleisen will be at the
concert, so be prepared to cheer!

All this happens on Sunday May 19th at 3 p.m. at 2710 N
Madison in Tacoma’s Proctor District. Paul Schultz, NWRS Artistic Director will
give a (free) talk about what to expect from the program at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for general admission, $15 for students,
seniors and military. Children under 17 are always free, and can be purchased
from Brown Paper Tickets, from www.NWRS.org or at the door.

Maps, directions, hints regarding parking and local
restaurants can be found at www.NWRS.org as well.

See you on Sunday, May 19th, and bring your pom poms,
whistles and penalty flags! RAH!
