For the last ten years or so, I have been writing about Japanese American
history, places, events, and of course people in the Seattle/Tacoma metro
area. Over those ten years I’ve gotten to know so many great organizations
who are doing wonderful work to keep that history alive. As I came to know
Tacoma Japanese American History, I wanted to place it in conversation and
context with these organizations. I sent out invitations. And so, the idea
for this year’s seventh Tacoma Japanese Day of Remembrance was born.
Here is the full schedule for this free event. Please, please share this
widely with K-12 educators (free clock hours!), though all are welcome. One
month from today. We’ll have a resource fair, letterpress artists, taiko
and shamisen performances, and more.
