Dr THAO LE's presentation on
YOUTH'S MINDFULNESS Program
• To share mindfulness techniques of body, thoughts and emotions for skillful living
• To encourage and nurture connection to oneself, to each other, and to all living entities
• To facilitate personal and collective growth.
OUTCOMES:
• Lower stress and stress response (e.g., lower cortisol)
• Higher immune functioning (IgA)
• Greater ability to regulate emotions and to make choices skillfully
• Greater self-awareness and self-acceptance.
The capacity of one's skillful means to transform suffering and stress into compassion and peace is inherent in everyone through mindfulness, which has been demonstrated in more than 125 research studies to be effective. The program is flexible and can be adapted and tailored for various populations. Greater focus, awareness and compassion are commonly reported outcomes among participants.
Thao N. Le is currently Associate Professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. She received her Masters at UC Berkeley and PhD at UC Davis, and has conducted research and program evaluation related to youth development among ethnic minority and disadvantaged youth for more than 20 years. She is dedicated to providing mindfulness programs to underserved communities, and to examining program efficacy and effectiveness.

Don T. Trieu is a Buddhist scholar and practitioner in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. He was trained at Plum Village - International Meditation Practice Center in France and has more than twenty years of mindfulness practice. He is currently a Dharma Teacher (Dharmacaya) and has taught in France and US.
