FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 11, 2024

The City of Auburn and the Auburn Arts Commission are pleased to present the work of Saori Matsushita at the Community Center Gallery, on view July 11 - August 30, 2024.

"These works are based on my hypothesis that ceramics are artificial stones, aiming to imitate natural stones. Using the Neriage technique, I combined different ceramic materials with distinct properties, such as porcelain, stoneware, and glazes, to create these pieces. This is not an attempt to follow traditional Japanese ceramic styles but rather an endeavor to recreate the philosophy rooted in the relationship between Japanese nature and craftsmanship."
