Got a ton of reusable grocery bags, cloth tote bags, or mesh produce bags taking up space?

We are asking the great people of Tacoma to bring old mesh produce bags or old unusable cloth grocery/tote bags to the Tacoma Landfill Recycling Center. Our Artist in Residence for Environmental Services, Teruko Nimura, will transform these bags into an art piece showcasing the massive scale of waste we produce daily, weekly, and yearly. Join us in creating a powerful statement on waste and sustainability.

Gather the materials and bring them to the Tacoma Landfill Recycling Center located at 3510 S Mullen St. Donations are being accepted from July 15 - August 15, 2024. Donations are accepted between 8am and 6pm Monday - Saturday. Please donate your clean, reusable grocery bags, cloth tote bags, and mesh produce bags at the Recycle Center.

Special thank you to the crews at Tacoma Environmental Services and the City of Tacoma for making this possible.

For more information, please contact Teruko Nimura at n-tnimura@cityoftacoma.org or message us here!
