Quarterly Reminder
(this really is just a quarterly reminder...I'm not sending this in response to anyone's post)

This reminder is sent to all subscribers four times a year. It contains information about the purpose of the listserv, how to post to the listserv, switching to daily digest mode, and how to subscribe/unsubscribe. If you have any questions about the listserv or are having problems posting, please direct questions to Naomi at nstrom-avila@cityoftacoma.orgmailto:nstrom-avila@cityoftacoma.org.

The purpose of the Listserv is to:

  1. Post information about arts related events, exhibits, and happenings
  2. Post opportunities related to the arts and/or opportunities beneficial to artists (i.e. calls to artists, art supply sales, appropriate artist studio space, etc..)
  3. Ask questions/request information directly related to the arts. Please note: responses must come directly back to you this is not meant to open up discussion.  If others are interested in replies, the person requesting information can 'digest the answers' and share them with the group.

It is NOT the purpose of this Listserv to:

  1. Discuss or critique postings with the entire listserv
  2. Establish an open dialogue of topics (there are several blogs in town that serve this purpose successfully)
  3. Post your artwork/photographs

Misuse of the Listserv:
Subscribers who misuse the listserv may be removed temporarily or blocked permanently at the discretion of the list manager.
Misuse may take many forms including but is not limited to:

  1. posting off-topic messages
  2. using abusive language
  3. violating city, state, county or federal law
  4. use of system to support or oppose a political candidacy or ballot initiative

This listserv is maintained by the City of Tacoma. It is not moderated however. Consistent with these policies, the City of Tacoma maintains the right to suspend or remove offenders who misuse the listserv or discontinue listserv service all together.

The City of Tacoma is not responsible for content sent over the listserv. Information provided by the City of Tacoma , including your email address, is subject to disclosure under the Public Records Act, Chapter 42.56 of the Revised Code of Washington.

Posting Messages:
To post a message, send your email exactly as you would like it to look to tacomaart@list.cityoftacoma.orgmailto:tacomaart@list.cityoftacoma.org. It will automatically be sent to everyone on the list. The email must be sent from the email address under which you are subscribed, otherwise, it will be held for moderation and will be reviewed on the next business day. Attachments must be no larger than 2MB. Due to the automated nature of this listserv, any attachments larger than this will not be posted and will result in blocking the entire message.

Please note: the listserv software blocks emails which it considers spam - this includes emails which contain multiple addresses in the To:, CC:, and BCC: lines. The software also blocks emails in which the TacomaArt email address is placed in the BCC: line. To ensure your post goes through, please put tacomaart@list.cityoftacoma.orgmailto:tacomaart@list.cityoftacoma.org in the To: line of the email and do not include any other email addresses.

Tips for composing your post: We suggest always adding the main information you are trying to convey to the body of the email (you can copy and paste text from a Word or text document if that is helpful) and embedding any corresponding JPG image into the body of the email vs. as an attachment. If you have a more detailed document (e.g. a Call to Artist or a full press release), we suggest you attach it to the email as a PDF document, but be sure to also include a summary of the opportunity in the body of the email. Where possible, include web address links to share posted information. Always include contact information for people who have questions.

Daily Digest:

  2. Establish an open dialogue of topics

  2. Establish an open dialogue of topics
  3. Post your artwork/photographs
