Pacific Gallery Artists (PGA) is a non profit organization founded in
1946. We welcome all interested 2D and 3D artists. We are artists that work in
many different mediums, and our members range from beginners to well know
artists and teachers...a very interesting mix.
We meet September through June, the second Tuesday of the month, 7 PM, at
the Asia Pacific Cultural Center, 4851 South Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA (except
Dec. & June when we meet at another location). We usually have a demo or
hands on project at every meeting. We have a group show at least once per
year, and share other artist opportunities with our members.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING: Tues. May 13th
TIME: 7:00 - 9:00 PM
MAY DEMO:
Abstract acrylic artist, Marquita Hunt will give the May presentation.
She was born and grew up in Tacoma, attended California College of Arts
and Crafts,
taken painting and drawing classes at Tacoma Community College, attended a
few week-long workshops
with Henry Stinson and a workshop from Vikki McMurray of Austin, Texas.
For many years she worked as an Interior Designer at Greenbaums in
Bellevue, Wa. She left after 8
years to start her own decorative painting business called Illusions.
This required versatility-marbleizing
faux finishing, and murals of all kinds.
For the last year and a half she has spent painting once a week with
William Turner as well as a handful
of other artists. She currently shows her work at the Proctor Art Gallery
in Tacoma.
We extend an invitation to have all interested artists come to our meeting
as a guest. Come visit us, we look forward to meeting you. Our meetings
are always open to the public.
