Walk Tacoma Explores Food, Culture, and Community in the Lincoln District
TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma On the Go invites community members to join the next installment of the 2026 Walk Tacoma Series on Wednesday, June 17, from 6:00–7:30 PM, for the Lincoln District Food, Culture & Community Walk.
This guided evening walk will explore one of Tacoma’s most vibrant and culturally rich neighborhoods through the stories, businesses, public art, and community investments that continue to shape the Lincoln District today. Beginning on the corner of S 39th Street and S Yakima Avenue, participants will experience the district through a series of stops highlighting its unique identity and ongoing evolution. Along the route, attendees will hear from neighborhood leaders, business owners, artists, and community advocates who have played important roles in preserving and strengthening the district.
The walk will feature conversations about the Lincoln District’s history as a center of immigrant entrepreneurship and cultural exchange, the impact of the Lincoln District Revitalization Project, the role of public art in fostering community identity, and the continued investment being made in the neighborhood's future.
Featured stops are expected to include local businesses, public art installations, and community development projects, including Shimmering Clouds and Patsy Surh Place, a recently completed affordable housing development named in honor of Patsy Surh, founder of the Asia Pacific Cultural Center (APCC) and a tireless advocate for Tacoma's Asian and Pacific Islander communities. honor of longtime advocate Patsy Surh.
