Surplus Sale of Former Sector Four Police Substation - 3524 McKinley Avenue

Buy City Property

The City of Tacoma is soliciting proposals from persons or entities ("Proposers") interested in purchasing the Former Sector Four Police Substation located at 3524 McKinley Avenue.

A Request for Proposal (RFP) has been published inviting Proposers to submit proposals for the acquisition of the Former Sector Four Police Substation.

This sale does not impact the operations of the current Sector Four Police Substation located at Stewart Heights at 400 East 56th Street.

To be considered, PROPOSALS MUST BE SUBMITTED in accordance with the requirements of the RFP and NO LATER THAN JUNE 4, 2013. A Proposal will be selected based on its alignment and compatibility with the neighborhood and the City's goals set forth in the RFP.

For a copy of the RFP go to: http://www.cityoftacoma.org/Page.aspx?hid=19460

About the Process

This is not a typical bid solicitation awarding the property to the highest bidder. Instead, this RFP process will take into account the purchase price offered by Proposers as well as the proposed future uses of the property. A proposal will be selected based on its alignment and compatibility with the neighborhood and the City's goals set forth in the RFP.

Proposals will be evaluated by a Selection Committee that includes at least one member of the public - as referred to the City by the Eastside Neighborhood Advisory Council.

Proposers will have to submit a Minimum Bid Amount that is consistent with market value as determined by an independent appraisal and Proposers will have to agree to a covenant to use/develop the property consistent with their proposal for a five year period.
