Annie O’Neill, an east coast transplant, is a 2012 graduate of the Corcoran
College of Art + Design, Washington DC. She holds a BFA in Fine Arts.
Flux, Annie’s current series of work, focuses on time and its relation to
beauty and success. The series of five small scale collages, focus on the
idea of timeless beauty verses time sensitive ascetics. The work also
addresses the general flux of the American standard of beauty, particularly
the fleeting fashion trends of 1960′s America juxtaposed with the
persistent, timeless traditions of beauty in Nuba tribal culture. Recycled
materials and re-purposed items are presented as paintings, which discuss
the idea of how success is measured and awarded and how that concept
changes as we age.
Annie’s first show with Tacoma Art Collective, 253 Collective, opens this
Thursday, May 16th as part of 3rd Thursday Tacoma’s Art Mingle. The
collective is open Saturdays 12-5pm and the Third Thursdays 3-8pm. 1901 S.
Jefferson St., Suite 100, Tacoma WA 98402, Additional Viewing/Lobby hours
are M-F, 9 am to 5 pm. Please join us for an opening reception this
