Tacoma Free for All's opening weekend includes all-ages concert with Grammy-nominated vocalists + 24-hour playwrighting challenge, Double Shot Fest!

Music and theatre lovers of the South Sound are in for a treat in late September when Tacoma Free for Allhttp://www.broadwaycenter.org/season/showDetails.asp?key=535 delivers two free events on September 27 and 28!

On Friday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m., Grammy-nominated vocalists Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choirhttp://www.broadwaycenter.org/season/showDetails.asp?key=535 will perform at Tacoma's historic Rialto Theater in a free, all-ages concert, telling the story of the African-American journey through energetic and uplifting roots music. Naomi Wachirahttp://www.berkeleyagency.com/blues/linda-tillery.htm, a Kenyan-born singer-songwriter who now hails from Seattle, will open the show with a set of original songs based on her experience as an African woman living in the diaspora.

Saturday the 28th continues Tacoma Free for All's opening weekend with Double Shot Festivalhttp://www.broadwaycenter.org/season/showDetails.asp?key=536. Presented in partnership with Northwest Playwrights Alliancehttp://northwestplaywrights.org/, the Double Shot Festival is an exciting and fun challenge for playwrights and actors in which the entire production-from concept to script, to rehearsal to performance- is all created from scratch in the 24 hours before the performance. Participants will culminate the experience with two sleep-deprived performances in Broadway Center's Studio III at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
