On Friday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m., Grammy-nominated vocalists Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir<http://www.broadwaycenter.org/season/showDetails.asp?key=535> will perform at Tacoma's historic Rialto Theater in a free, all-ages concert, telling the story of the African-American journey through energetic and uplifting roots music. Naomi Wachira<http://www.berkeleyagency.com/blues/linda-tillery.htm>, a Kenyan-born singer-songwriter who now hails from Seattle, will open the show with a set of original songs based on her experience as an African woman living in the diaspora. Saturday the 28th continues Tacoma Free for All's opening weekend with Double Shot Festival<http://www.broadwaycenter.org/season/showDetails.asp?key=536>. Presented in partnership with Northwest Playwrights Alliance<http://northwestplaywrights.org/>, the Double Shot Festival is an exciting and fun challenge for playwrights and actors in which the entire production-from concept to script, to rehearsal to performance- is all created from scratch in the 24 hours before the performance.
