About After School Productions:

Our after-school productions are designed for an all-youth cast. Younger
actors usually play younger characters while teenage actors often play
adult characters. During after-school programs, we focus a lot on our core
values and actively collaborate to maintain a kind and nurturing learning
environment. With each new cast, we explore the basics of acting, staging,
and work very intentionally to learn and follow good theatre etiquette.
After school productions usually perform over the course of one weekend,
and are open to the public. The cost to participate in the production is
$300.00 PAY WHAT YOU CAN.  For more information, please visit

Tacoma Youth Theatre's after school productions are designed to facilitate
the best theatrical experience possible.  We primarily produce original
adaptations of public domain works, affording us the unique ability to
customize each play, after auditions, to optimize the experience for each
individual young artist. We have carefully selected plays that introduce
the very newest young actors to theatre and provide returning actors with
exciting new challenges. (Note: THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE is
NOT in public domain.)

About Auditions:

Auditions for Tacoma Youth Theatre are open to ALL young actors. The
audition process itself is as low-pressure, and nurturing as possible - and
consists of group exercises and cold reading (or reciting. Non-readers are
more than welcome, too!) from the scripts. No prepared material, resumes or
headshots are accepted, as we believe that all young actors should enter
the process on equal footing.

About Tacoma Youth Theatre:

Tacoma Youth Theatre is dedicated to creating high-quality theatre entirely
produced by young artists.  The company strives to build community by
emphasizing core values of self-esteem, empathy, responsibility,
collaboration, creativity, and adaptability.  Tacoma Youth Theatre provides
professional expectations, resources, and mentors that lead young people
through the exploration of multiple theatrical disciplines.  This process
works best in a nurturing, respectful atmosphere where unique individuals,
ages 5-18, can discover the impact, success, and joy of theatre for
themselves.  Tacoma Youth Theatre offers partial and full tuition
scholarships based on financial need.
