City of Auburn:
Second Saturday with Guest Artist Wol-Un
Postmark Center for the Arts
Contact: Allison Hyde, Arts Program Supervisor arts@auburnwa.govmailto:arts@auburnwa.gov.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 10, 2024

Saturday, July 13th | 1:00-3:00 PM
Second Saturdays with Wol-Un

We are excited to welcome artist
Wol-Un to Postmark to provide a brief history and workshop on Minwha; Korean Ink Painting.

Wol-Un b. 1999 (월운, 月雲) is an interdisciplinary artist born in Seattle, but currently based in Vancouver, B.C., since moving there in 2022 to study fine arts at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. His latest exhibition, My World in Ink, is currently on display in the Postmark Center for the Arts’ Vault Gallery. July 13th marks this final date to view his exhibition, My World in Ink, so be sure to come early and spend some time with the artwork!

In this 1-3PM workshop, students will have a chance to learn how to paint in this traditional style with tools and paper. Artist Wol-Un will demonstrate the steps of how to paint a plum blossom, which will remain the primary objective for students to replicate. The artist will then also demonstrate how to grind ink in an ink stone and allow students to try for themselves. Afterwards, students will recreate the demonstration and each person may have a painting of their own to take home.

Additional free crafts for all ages will be available. Made possible by Kiwanis Club of Auburn!

Sincerely,

Aidyn
