There are just a few days left to apply for a Beyond the Bin Grant opportunity. We look forward to receiving your application soon!

In 2026, City of Tacoma's Solid Waste Management (SWM) division is excited to offer two to three awards of $10,000 to $15,000 for projects that support waste reduction efforts occurring within Tacoma city limits. Examples of projects that may be funded through this grant opportunity include, but are not limited to:

  • Initiating, maintaining, or growing community composting systems  

  • Building food share and/or rescue resources, infrastructure, or systems  

  • Planning community events or creating programs that support waste reduction through swapping, repairing, upcycling, or creative reuse   

  • Establishing community sharing spaces, networks, or “Libraries of Things” to encourage local sharing, lending, and reuse  

  • Designing educational campaigns or resources that promote waste reduction  

  • Implementing systems that replace disposable materials with durable and/or reusable alternatives  

  • Developing programs that increase the reuse or repurposing of salvaged or hard-to-recycle materials 

Non-profit organizations are eligible to apply. No match is required for this grant opportunity.

Awards will be announced on or before April 1, 2026.
