Elisabeth Wright, Susie Napper and I represented the Northwest early
music scene in Europe as the Seattle Baroque Trio several decades ago,
and are reunited in this exciting program of French baroque trio sonatas
and JS Bach. Please join me in celebrating the return to the Northwest
of Elisabeth Wright and Susie Napper, two of the towering figures in the
international early music scene who play regularly all over the globe.
Hope to see you on May Day!

During the reign of Louis XIV, "Simphonie" (there were several
spellings) referred simply to chamber music for two or more musicians.
Our program includes some of the greatest repertoire for these instruments:

  • Jean-Marie Leclair* /Trio Sonata, Opus 2, No. 8/
  • François Couperin* /Second Concert/ from /Concerts Royaux/
  • Jean-Philippe Rameau* /Cinquième Concert/from /Pieces de Clavecin en
Concerts/ (1741)for obbligato harpsichord with viola da gamba and flute
  • Jean-Henri D'Anglebert* harpsichord solos
  • Johann Sebastian Bach* /Trio Sonata/ for viola da gamba and flute,
transcribed for this performance from Bach's two versions for viola da
gamba solo with obbligato harpsichord, and for two flutes and continuo.
