IS IT REALLY ALMOST NOVEMBER?

I can't quite believe it, but the busy autumn season is upon us again. This is the most important time of year for Tacoma artists, as November is Art at Work Month throughout the city. So that means a plethora of events, and a whole slew of new work to share. So please join us!

STUDIO TOUR

This weekend marks the twelfth annual Studio Tour—one of Tacoma's biggest art events. Jessica and I are both participating again, and we're excited to welcome you back to our studios! Stop by to make your own takeaway keepsake, shop for handmade gifts and goodies, and be the first to see a veritable boatload of brand new artwork.

THE ART OF BUSINESS, THE BUSINESS OF ART

As part of Art at Work month, Tacoma's Arts Leadership Lab will be hosting a day-long conference for creative entrepreneurs. I'll be there to sit on a panel with musician Kareem Kandi and visual artists Jeremy Mangan and Nicholas Nyland. I think it'll be a great conversation—so feel free to join in!

PRESSING MATTERS

Jessica and I will be giving a talk about our Dead Feminists series next month. We'll talk about the history of the series, as well as our creative (and collaborative) process. We'll have postcards and prints for sale and a small printing press with keepsakes at the event. It's been a few years since we've given this talk, so if you haven't seen it before, now's your chance!

FOUNDATION OF ART EXHIBIT

I'm honored to announce that I was one of this year's nominees for the Foundation of Art Award, sponsored by the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation. There will be an exhibit of all the current nominees next month, as well as an reception to celebrate this year's winning artist, Shaun Peterson.

Exhibit runs November 14 through January 10

Opening reception: evening of Wednesday, November 20 (time TBA)

YES, VIRGINIA, TACOMA IS FOR LOVERS

I'll be traveling for the holidays this year, so I won't be doing as many craft fairs as usual. I will be present, however, for T-town's holiday mainstay, Tacoma is for Lovers. So if you miss Studio Tour this year, be sure to stop by on the Saturday before Thanksgiving!
