Coming Soon: A New Home for Tacoma EnviroNews Listserv

The Tacoma EnviroNews listserv is becoming a community-managed resource. Effective on Earth Day, April 22, 2016, Citizens for a Healthy Bay will take over hosting the listserv.

The listserv will continue to serve as a vehicle for environmental news to flow among Tacoma citizens, community activists, environmental organizations and city government. The focus will continue to be on environmental topics such as grant opportunities, workshops, restoration activities, volunteer programs, training, announcements, news or events.

Citizens for a Healthy Bay will establish rules similar to those in place today. Subscribers will be automatically moved to the CHB listserv without needing to take any action. However, there will be new email addresses for posting messages to the listserv and submitting subscribe-unsubscribe requests.

The City of Tacoma created the listserv in 2005 to serve as a vehicle for the exchange of environmental news. Today the listserv has nearly 1,000 subscribers.

By transitioning management of the listserv to Citizens for a Healthy Bay, the listserv will become even more of a community asset, being community managed.

The City will continue to promote the listserv, encourage people to subscribe to the listserv, and use the listserv when appropriate.
