Subject: [TacomaArt] Call to Artists - Pianos on Parade (deadline June 7)
Call to Artists - City of Auburn 2013 Pianos on Parade
Pianos on Parade is a City of Auburn program that showcases local artists' transformation of pianos that are placed in outdoor locations for all to play and enjoy.
Five pianos will be placed throughout Auburn's downtown from August 1 through August 23, 2013. Artists/artist teams are offered $500 for the transformation of a piano.
All pianos are upright. Alterations to the piano do not have to be permanent, but should be able to withstand outdoor weather for three weeks. The applied artwork is intended as temporary and will be removed/covered the following year. This is not a fundraiser, and pianos will not be sold following the display. Artist will be acknowledged in all media and signage associated with this program.
The installation can go beyond surface treatment of the piano, but the overall design must allow 5' of passage around the piano in its public space, and must not be sharp, potentially dangerous to public and added items must be secure in its placement.
To apply, send the following information by June 7, 2013, 5:00 pm to calltoartists@auburnwa.govmailto:calltoartists@auburnwa.gov. Inquiries can be directed to Maija McKnight, Arts Coordinator, 253-804-5043.

Hello artist friends,
I have a question. Does anyone have any ideas for a space that is conducive
to dinner for 75 and a theatre performance?
The client is hoping for something industrial looking, an old warehouse
would be perfect. Yet, we would need bathrooms and warmth.
Tacoma or Olympia is fine. Thanks everyone!
