Dear friends,
I would love it if you would come to my film screening and talk at B2
Gallery in Tacoma.
In the 1980s my paintings were figurative and often dealt with sexual
content, including poking fun at society's attitudes about sex. In 1988
my wife, Gabi, and I invited friends and students from The Evergreen
State College to look at and discuss a bunch of my paintings. Gabi, a
film student at the time, filmed the session. She titled the film "Open
Studio."
We will show this 9:36 film at B2 Gallery and invite viewers to discuss
the issues brought up in the film. Two other short films will
be shown: "Two Women" (1:28) and "Portrait of Noel" (4:48). Both are
live action and stop-action animation of paintings being made, both
filmed by Gabi Clayton.
I will also have on hand for a one-night-only showing some of the
paintings included in the film and other paintings from the same period.
The event will be held in conjunction with the current exhibition at B2,
BATHERS OF THE SUN - BATHERS OF THE MOON featuring paintings by Leonardo
Lanzolla and accompanying artists Jennifer Kuhns, mosaics, and Mary
Pacios, prints.
