Are you able to attend mandatory event rehearsals on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, and Saturday, Jan. 11, 2013? Submit an Application to Perform at the 26th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, 2013. Go to cityoftacoma.org/MLK to access the online performance auditions application form. Live auditions will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013. A non-returnable CD or DVD - or a link allowing committee members to preview work online - may be accepted by the committee, on a case-by-case basis, as a substitute for a live audition. Those wishing to be considered should present creative, original work highlighting their commitment to the continuation of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy of social justice and equality. Those selected after the audition period is over, would be asked to attend the mandatory event rehearsals on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, and Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, and ultimately perform before a crowd of 2,000 - 3,000 people at the 26th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center (1500 Broadway in Tacoma).
