Tacoma Youth Theatre is proud to announce Summer Theatre Camps

Tacoma Youth Theatre will hold Theatre camps for young actors ages 5-18
beginning on July 8th, 2013.  These camps will mark the one year
anniversary of Tacoma Youth Theatre.  The camps are broken down into three
series – Theatre Fun Series, Performance Series, and Audition Series.

Theatre Fun Series

Cost: $125.00 per class

OPEN ENROLLMENT - Suggested ages: 5 – 10

Three One-Week Camps - 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Discover the joy of theatre! Young actors will love this opportunity to
explore the fundamentals of acting through fun games and exercises. Each
one-week camp is perfect as a first introduction to the world of theatre,
or an ideal supplement for any young actor who regularly performs. Each
week stands alone. Sign-up for one class or all three. Enroll early, class
sizes are limited.

July 8 - July 12

*Theatre Fun: Taking the Stage! *

This fun class teaches the basics of theatrical performance including
movement, pantomime, voice, and staging

July 15 - July 19

*Theatre Fun: Telling the Story! *

This fun class teaches the basics of story dramatization and improvisation.

July 22 - July 26

*Theatre Fun: Becoming the Character! *

This fun class will focus on character creation & acting choices including
physical and vocal character work.

*Performance Series *

Cost: $175.00 per class

OPEN ENROLLMENT - Suggested ages 8 – 15

Three One-Week Camps - 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Designed to immerse young actors in a total theatre experience! Each
one-week production offers actors the unforgettable chance to rehearse,
design, and publically perform the week’s production.

July 8 - July 12

Best of Broadway

Performs July 13 @ 3pm

A compilation of scenes from some of Broadway’s most famous playwrights:
Arthur Miller, Neil Simon, Lillian Hellman, Thorton Wilder and more! – all
featuring young characters. Actors will play characters that are their own
age in a beautiful collection of some of Broadway’s finest moments.

July 15 - July 19

A Tribute to Anne Frank

Performs July 20 @ 3pm

Through selections from her diary and scenes from the award-winning play by
Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, each young actress will take on the
role of Anne Frank as we tell one of history’s tragedies through the eyes
of a young girl.

July 22 - July 26

Fiction in the Footlights

Performs July 27 @ 3pm

Join us for this beautiful compilation of scenes and monologues from
classic junior fiction. Selections include: The Lion, the Witch, and the
Wardrobe, Charlotte’s Web, The Hobbit, The Giver, Little Women and more!

Audition Series

Cost: pay-what-you-can

The audition series is designed to provide a complete theatrical experience
– from rehearsal to fully produced public performances.  These are
productions, not classes.  Actors will only be called to rehearsal as
needed.  Tuition is due, if cast, on the first day of rehearsal.

This witty, original adaptation of the classic folk tale is both funny and
heart-warming. Full of complex characters, intrigue and sword play, this a
play that any serious young actor will enjoy!

*PAY WHAT YOU CAN tuition is not free. *

We ask that every young artist enrolled in audition based productions pay
the full cost or select a lesser payment their family can afford. Tickets
to performances are sold as a fundraiser for Tacoma Youth Theatre.  We
encourage all families to participate in this important fundraising effort.

Camps and performances are held at The Center for Spiritual Living, 206
North J Street at Division Ave.
