Activist Annie Leonard speaks on Tuesday about our excess stuff

Annie Leonard says people are stuck on the treadmill of buying stuff, keeping stuff and working to buy more stuff.

It’s a way of life that hurts the environment, wastes resources and robs people of time they could spend nurturing relationships with loved ones.

Leonard will discuss how to jump off of the consumer treadmill on Tuesday, May 7, at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom.[http://wp.pierce.ctc.edu/blog/thepen/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif]

The talk is in support of the Pierce College 2012-13 Common Book theme, based on Richard Louv’s “The Nature Principle.”

In 2007, Leonard and Free Range Studios produced “The Story of Stuff,” one of the most watched online environmental movies of all time. Response to the animated cartoon was so huge, Leonard founded the non-profit Story of Stuff Project to continue sharing information and encourage people to get involved.

Leonard’s presentation will include time for a book signing.
