An Afternoon Concert
Saturday, October 26 @ 2 p.m.
Olympic Room, Main Library

The Tacoma Public Library welcomes back classical guitarist Peter
Fletcher  for a free Saturday afternoon concert! This concert is
part of a nationwide tour, under the auspices of Phillip Truckenbrod
Concert Artists, to promote his new Edvard Grieg CD, to be  released
this Fall by Centaur Records.

Fletcher will perform selections from his new CD, an all-Grieg album

in which he himself wrote the guitar transcriptions.  CDs will be
available at the concert

Major works will include Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, and

Suite Compostelana by the Catalan composer Federico Mompou,  to
celebrate the 115th anniversary of the composer's birth.   Fletcher
recorded a highly acclaimed CD of Mompou's music on Centaur Records
(CRC 2588, 2002)

Fletcher will also perform music from Michael Praetorius's

Terpsichore;   Courante from the Third Cello Suite by Bach; the
ever popular  Recuerdos de la Alhambra by Francisco Tárrega_  _and
 a  Passacagli  by  Girolamo Frescobaldi. Fletcher will perform
Diary of a Camino   by American composer Jeremy Gill.  Fletcher
performed the world premiere of this work  last  April   at Weill
Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall.

The final work on the program will be  Fletcher's transcription of

Paganini's dazzling Caprice no. 24.
