Seeking artist for Yesler Neighborhood Park Project

The Office of Arts & Culture, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation (Parks), seeks an artist or artist team to develop site-integrated artwork for the Yesler Neighborhood Park Projecthttp://officeofartsculture.createsend1.com/t/y-l-ilkikid-jrljihyddd-t/. The park will be located in the Yesler neighborhood, just east of downtown Seattle, on the southern slope of First Hill. This park is the largest open space in the Yesler Terrace redevelopment. It is intended to be a gathering place for a diverse community with residents of all ages.

The selected artist or artist team will join the design team to work with Parks, Seattle Housing Authority, Yesler Terrace redevelopment consultants and community members to contribute to the overall park design, and create a sense of place. The artist is expected to respond to the selected site's patterns of use and design such as pathways, seating elements, landscape, etc.
Eligibility:

Open to established professional artists residing and eligible to work in Washington and Oregon. Artists whose work address environmental issues and are interested in working with diverse communities are especially encouraged to apply.

Budget:

The total budget for the artwork is $130,000. The selected artist will receive a design contract for $20,000 to develop site-integrated artwork. If the design proposal is accepted, the artist or artist team will receive a subsequent contract for $110,000 to fabricate and install the artwork.

Deadline:

11 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 (Pacific Daylight Time).
