Are you a poet-or a writer whose work intersects with poetry-who believes in the power of words to build community, amplify culture, and ignite change? This is your opportunity to help shape Tacoma's literary future. The selected Poet Laureate will serve a two-year term (September 2025 - April 2027) and receive a $6,000 stipend and a $1,000 project budget to support public programming. Responsibilities include leading public workshops, readings, events, and engaging in meaningful community-based literary work across the city. We encourage applications from literary artists of all backgrounds and styles-whether emerging, professional, or established-who are passionate about creating inclusive and accessible programming that reflects Tacoma's diverse communities.
