Please pass this info along to them! 2021-2022 Funding Applications for Individual Artists Available The City of Tacoma is now accepting Tacoma Artists Initiative Program (TAIP) funding applications from eligible Tacoma artists, working in all artistic disciplines. TAIP funding supports artists who wish to create new work and grow their skills. Fundees must share their art or artistic practice with the residents of Tacoma through a free public component. Artists selected for funding will each receive $3,000 to support their work and will have until Dec. 31, 2022 to complete their project. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 25, 2021. “TAIP is one of the many ways that Tacoma helps to support its creative economy by providing funds to artists for performances, exhibitions, and other activities that engage our community,” said Tacoma Arts Commission Chair Heather Conklin. “Our city benefits from the contributions of our local artists and we are excited to partner with them as they develop ways for our community to connect and heal.” Eligibility extends to artists who are residents of Tacoma, practicing artists who are dedicated to producing artwork on a regular basis, are at least 18 years of age, and not a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in an arts-related degree program. Artists who have received TAIP funding in 2019 - 2020 are not eligible to apply. In alignment with Tacoma City Council Resolution 40622<https://cityoftacoma.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=8643936&GUID=30E4E5D6-F3DD-4F32-B9C8-DD553C372397>, the Tacoma Arts Commission is committed to sustained and transformational anti‐racist work including investing in communities most impacted by racial, social, and economic inequity and working toward justice for all. TAIP funding will be prioritized for artists’ projects that meet one or more of the following: * Projects that primarily give voice to: o Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC)/ African, Latinx, Arab, Asian, Native-American (ALAANA) communities o Economically or socio-economically marginalized communities o LGBTQIA+ communities o People with disabilities o Racial justice and/or social justice * Projects that will use TAIP funding to directly pay Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC)/ African, Latinx, Arab, Asian, Native-American (ALAANA) collaborators to create work that is central to the project * Emergent community needs related to the global pandemic Funding for TAIP is determined through a competitive application process.
