OPPORTUNITY:
The City of Tacoma's Office of Arts & Cultural Vitality is looking for volunteers to attend specific in-person arts/culture events now through April 2023 and collect surveys from attendees (and enjoy the event programming while you are there!). We're looking for outgoing volunteers who enjoy meeting and talking with people. This can be a fun way to get out in the community, see first-hand what our amazing organizations are doing, enjoy a show/event, and help with this important study.

How it works: Office of Arts & Cultural Vitality staff selects a wide variety of arts and cultural events happening in Tacoma and coordinates approvals and survey details with the organizations presenting each event. Staff will provide volunteers with a list of available events and volunteers decide which event(s) they want to cover (for full-day or multi-day programs, volunteers can select a date and/or time frame that works for their schedule.) Once a volunteer has signed up to cover a specific event, staff will provide the volunteer with event tickets (if required for the event), detailed instructions, and all materials needed.

These audience surveys are part of a national year-long study Tacoma is participating in called Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6), which measures the impact nonprofit arts and cultural organizations and their audiences have on our local economy. The results of this study provide much needed data our community needs when advocating for arts and culture.

INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING?:

ABOUT THE AEP6 STUDY:
The City of Tacoma's Office of Arts & Cultural Vitality is working on a year-long survey project in Tacoma called Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6). Administered by Americans for the Artshttp://www.americansforthearts.org, AEP6 will examine the economic impact of the nonprofit arts and culture industry in Tacoma and 386 additional participating cities across the U.S. The study specifically looks at the economic impact of spending by nonprofit arts and culture organizations AND the event-related spending by their audiences (think local retail, parking, restaurants, child care and other costs associated with attending events).

You can learn more about the AEP6 study at: www.AmericansForTheArts.org/AEP6http://www.AmericansForTheArts.org/AEP6

You can see the results of the same study we did in 2006, 2011, and 2016 at www.cityoftacoma.org/aephttp://www.cityoftacoma.org/aep.
